For those of you with the time and desire to spend a bit more of your Vacation on the Pacuare, our Pacuare River Rafting 3 day Trip will absolutely be the highlight of any vacation to Costa Rica! Our three day two night (Pacuare River Lodge) trip offers our clients not only the thrill and beauty of the Pacuare River, but also the unique experience of spending two nights in one of the most bio-diverse ecosystems on the Planet.
Itinerary – 3-day Pacuare River Overnight Rafting Trip
Day 1 – Wake early for a 3-day white water rafting adventure on the Pacuare River. We will travel from Turrialba to the river put-in where we’ll descend through dense jungle into the heart of the Rio Pacuare gorge. On its way to the Caribbean Sea, the Pacuare plunges through some of Central America’s last untouched tropical rain forest. Once you arrive at the River, your Professional Bilingual Guides will fit you into our top of the line safety equipment. Then, Prior to launching, the guides will do a comprehensive Rafting Safety Talk.
In between the class III and IV rapids you’ll gaze in wonder at the primordial forest and its wild inhabitants. Half way down the river we’ll pull over at Pacuare River Lodge . Sip on a tropical drink or explore the surrounding wilderness while your guides prepare a delicious jungle lunch in one of our fully equipped open-air kitchens. That evening after happy hour and an incredible dinner by candle light you’ll sleep in one of our 14 cozy Cabinas that all overlook the river and listen as the Jungle’s nocturnal creatures serenade you into a well deserved slumber…
Day 2 – Today, after a delicious Costa Rican breakfast prepared by your trusty guides, you’ll do a guided nature hike deep into the rainforest. Along the way, your guide will point out and explain all of the tropical flora and fauna you encounter. This is one of the most bio-diverse and pristine areas in the world and you’re sure to encounter more amazing wildlife than you ever thought possible!
Our final destination is a small Cabecar Village. The Cabecar are the original indigenous inhabitants of the Pacuare Valley and they still live in much the same way as their pre-Columbian forefathers. Today will truly be a day you’ll never forget.
NOTE: For those unwilling or unable to make the Trek to the Indigenous Village, many other activities are available: Shorter Nature Hikes, a Thrilling Canopy Tour, an Aid Project at a local School, kayak school, horseback ride to a butterfly garden, inflatable kayaks or a day spent lounging around the Lodge is pretty darn nice as well!
Day 3 – Today you’ll wake to the singing of Tropical Birds and rumble of the nearby River. The lovely aroma of percolating coffee will coax you out of your cozy Cabinas and to the hearty breakfast your trusty guides have been preparing. Then, after breakfast, it’s back to work, we’ve got boats to load and rapids to conquer.
Today’s Whitewater will be even more thrilling than the previous day’s and we’ll encounter several exciting class IV Rapids! We’ll pull over to do a short but spectacular hike to one of the Canyon’s most spectacular Waterfalls. The cool water in the pristine pool at the base of the falls is a perfect and refreshing break from the warm tropical jungle. Swim as long as you like or just relax and take in the incredible natural beauty around you. Then after a few more River miles, we’ll pull over for a gourmet river lunch once again prepared by your trusty guides. Then, it’s back to work, we’ve got miles to cover and lots more rapids to conquer before getting to the river take out!
